all this talk about "the economy" all anet would have to do if this is made perm, is make drops less likely. not a hard fix and we can still enjoy or time in FoW/UW. It took me almost 3 weeks to get a spider due to work and america sucking favor wise. I am all for unlimited access to both areas.

/signed for no favor
/signed for still paying to get in.

maybe even raise it to 5k if they dont alter the drop rates.

...no it's not. Are you kidding? That has to be a joke. ROFL!

Honestly it's part of what makes PvE players HATE the PvP system.

I think that there should be something to determine whether or not we can go in. But not something dealing with PvP. Maybe like a certain quest you must do that changes every week. Like you do this quest (which should be quite difficult) and then u have access thru-out the week. But the following week you must do a different quest.

This is just an idea...but we should have some other task that us non-pvp players can do without having to rely on which HA team is on.

Note to everyone worried about the price of ectos: Dedicated farmers have multiple accounts on different servers. The easiest way to get around the favor system costs about $20 once, and then you can farm UW pretty much anytime you like. Opening access won't affect how common ectos are, but only how rare they are perceived to be. If the economy "crashes" then it is because it was artificially inflated to begin with, people BELIEVE that ectos are incredibly rare.

And yes, this open weekend will probably bring prices down. Now because there are going to suddenly be millions of ectos flooding the market, but because making them more easily accesible destroys the illusion of them being ultra-rare. When the weekend is over, and everyone who tried out UW for the first time realizes that it can be farmed, the prices will go down. And they'll probably STAY low, after that, similar to what happened with amber/jade, similar to what's already happening with rubies/sapphires: the demand is steadily decreasing even as farming continues unabated.

The economy is a moot point. Farming of UW and FoW goes on every day. I don't claim to know how many "europe" accounts are run by people not in europe, but I know I have a monk and a necro working through on the Europe servers to farm with them, whenever I choose. And I know I'm not the only one who has done this.

ANet should just open UW/FoW to all parts of the world. Completely get rid of the bad decision to link PvE and PvP in any way. If PvP characters had to actually play PvE to unlock skills, get weapons and armor, and reach the arenas, then it would make sense for Pvp players to affect the PvE world. This was the original design, and it was scrapped in favor of PvP only characters and Balthazar faction. only favor remains, a remnant of those times that really adds no "fun" to the game, only adds aggravation and fuels the ongoing animosity between PvE and PvP.

whats the point in that? We need to cheer and support our countries to get favor. Only 1 country has favor at a time!!!

Problem is if they do that... the prices of ectos and shards will come down so fast. Can just wander into FoW/UW anytime you want. The favour at least needs to effect something. It effecting the entry rights is a bitch if your not on Euro, but then it becomes completetly irrelevant otherwise.

This is the kind of stuff I hate to see on these forums. People, just be reasonable about this. No one has any idea how this will affect the community economy. It could have none, but it could have a major impact.

Why not wait until the event actually happens yet before voicing your opinion (this rant also dirrected at all the omg GW 2 is the sux or GW 2 is going to be l337 threads about a game not even in beta)? It might be a good idea to see how it works out. Its just the logical and smart thing to do.

If you want favor, go fight in the Hall of Heroes... Because if you do nothing, heh, you get nothing.

I'm sure that's what they're doing since they're announcing the release of their new game. No one's going to be playing as much, so favor will be even more f'ked up than previously. I think it'd be fair to ask for them to just keep the free play + not favor based honestly. Who's going to care if someone's hoarding in the ectos? No one, because it's an old game that no one cares about anyway.

The idea of favour with the gods ties in with the game too well, losing the entrance fee wouldnt be AS bad but losing the favour idea just defeats the point. And you can change regions, if your fed up with american's never having favour, and if you depend on it so heavily, swap to the european region.

Personally I don't like the favor system at all I see everyday on euro servers: RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO america, and then on american servers: RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO europe, well what else should I add, maybe the fact that many guilds have players from both sides and they would like to do FoW/Uw together as a guild and they can't cause of this and thats lack of fun ( a game is meant to have fun afterall), lets see Japan, Korea and Taiwan, they RARELY see favor how many of them would like to do fow/uw but no they have to switch to euro servers or american and then ppl WHINE cause of lag, of course it lags jesus christ you're putting 3 more countries into 1 or 2 (even if i hardly doubt they will choose american since europe almost always has favor). Ask yourselfs, wouldn't it be nice if all the players from around the world would play together instead of insulting each other.

America needs to learn to play for favor. Its something you just
cant get. Part of having favor and not having makes the game
versatile. Ascend and goto Tombs that's UW. Stop complaining.

and eewwww SERVER LAG last time something like happened
I ended up gettin 32,674 ping counts...NTY You need to earn
the favor.

I think this deffinatly needs to be implemented, but now is not the time. Once GW:EN, or shortly after, would be a good time to open the FoW and UW doors.

But it's not that easy to gain favor over here in america. Probably the majority of the player in gw have to go to school everyday, then come home and do their homework. By the time we actually have finished, its already like 7 or 8 and Europe STILL has favor, and getting a coordinated HA group isnt exactly easy in the amount of time you have left on a weekday or weekend anyway...
